               3. Possess basic English and numeracy skills (a Language, Literacy and Numeracy [LLN] assessment may be required).
               4. Have basic digital literacy and access to a computer or tablet.
               5. Be physically capable of performing care-related duties (including manual handling tasks).
               6. Hold or be willing to obtain the following before work placement:
               7. National Police Check
               8. Working With Children Check
               9. NDIS Worker Screening Check
               10. First Aid and CPR Certificates
               11. Up-to-date immunisations (as per NSW Health guidelines)

1. 24 weeks total duration

2. 20 hours per week, including:

• 16 hours of scheduled training and practical simulation/workshops

• 4 hours of self-paced learning through the Learning Management System (LMS)

3. 120 hours of mandatory work placement, completed over 3 weeks

4. Rolling enrolments available – students can commence throughout the year

After earning the Certificate IV in Disability Support, you can pursue:

• Certificate IV in Ageing Support
• Diploma of Community Services
• Diploma of Nursing
• Bachelor of Nursing (tertiary level)

Our course has been designed to meet the requirements for the CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support. It contains 10 Units; 7 Core units and 3 Elective units:

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if you have relevant skills, knowledge, work experience, or previous study related to the course.

RPL may be granted through:

• Previous employment experience
• Formal or informal training
• Workplace learning
• Volunteer work or community experience
• Prior completed studies

Students may be required to provide:

• Resume/CV
• Job descriptions
• References or employer letters
• Certificates or transcripts
• Work samples or evidence of competency

All RPL applications are assessed individually by qualified trainers and assessors in accordance with BIC policies and training package requirements.

Credit Transfer

Credit Transfer (CT) is available for students who have successfully completed identical or equivalent nationally recognised units with another Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

To apply for Credit Transfer, students must provide:

• A certified copy of their Statement of Attainment or Qualification
• A USI transcript (if requested)

Where the unit code and title match the current course requirements, credit transfer will generally be granted without further assessment.

Students are encouraged to discuss RPL or Credit Transfer options with BIC prior to enrolment or during the orientation process.

To earn this nationally recognised qualification, you must complete all units to a job-ready standard. Each unit includes the following assessment tasks:

• Knowledge tests with multiple choice questions, short answer questions, matching sentences, diagrams
• Case studies and projects
• Practical demonstrations observed and assessed in a simulated environment
• Clinical skills demonstration in the workplace, assessed by our facilitator
